29 Jun Taiwan: Taipei City & Street Art
Summary
So this is my first visit to Taiwan and I must say so far so good. From the fresh and minty air in Qingjing and Pingxi to this post of awesome Taipei city & street art.

Taipei, Taiwan
So this is my first visit to Taiwan and I must say so far so good. In my previous posts on Qingjing and Pingxi, the air was fresh and minty. So much greenery and nature and best of all, the cooling weather. You definitely can’t get that kind of sight and cool air in Singapore unless you lock yourself up in an air conditioning room and you’re surfing the internet looking at travel pictures.
Taipei though is just another city with lots of cars and shopping malls. What kept me excited was to hunt down the street arts as usual. At least, it’s a good sign to see art installation of sheep along the malls. Art is in the air so is love. Just check out the passionate kissing couple with an onlooker on the above picture. Caught! Hur hur...

Taipei Street Art (Ximending)
And now I’ll let all the street art pictures do the talking.
Huashan 1914 Creative Park
A visit to the Huashan 1914 Creative Park is highly recommended if you’re interested in the creative cultures, arts and local music of Taipei. The park is an awesome space to spend your lazy afternoon to indulge and be inspired by all the art installations, exhibitions etc. Unfortunately, the red brick warehouse exhibition hall was booked out for some company event. So we had 1 less place to explore. Still a place worth visiting imo.

Look what we discovered 2mins walk away from Huashan 1914 Creative Park! A very unique and cute looking mini-spaced Ikea House! It’s more of a cafe than the usual Ikea shops that houses all the furniture and stuff for sale really. A good place for a decent meal after a walk in the park. If I remember it correctly, we were actually walking around to see if there were restrooms we could use. So it was a pleasant find.

Longshan Temple (龍山寺)
Temples are quite a huge thing in Taiwan so I guess we at least had to squeeze in one of the oldest and largest temple as an experience huh. Personally, I don’t usually have the practice to go through the whole “proper” process of purchasing the incense/joss stick bundle set for the prayers. Most times I just put my hands together and just pray. Occasionally I drop in a few bucks to the donation box. Ya know? Like donations for the temple maintenance and preservation work etc.

Finally, a few words in summary would be a rather fruitful and enjoyable trip. Taiwan isn’t all that bad for a short getaway. We were lucky most of our meals weren’t oily like many described.

Ending the post with the city night lights on a rainy day in Ximending shopping district.
